OSPO-EG Charter Draft

The OSPO Expert Group is responsible for promoting contributions to open source software by engineers in automotive industry. OSPO-EG activity covers the following:

  • Encourage companies to launch their OSPO
  • Offer a place to share pain points and best practices to resolve them
  • Publish documents of the best practices for common pain points
  • Reach out companies outside AGL community and invite them
  • (tentative) Encourage open discussion of improvement for OSS development model with in the industry

  • List of questions asking for pain points
  • List of pain points/work items and possible resolutions
    • How to get approval to launch an OSPO from the company
      • template presentation deck
    • How to allocate work effort of OSPO members
          - In case of Toyota, everyone is parttime (and busy)
    • How to keep consistency with (or transitional replacement/improvement of) existing processes
    • github account (unified/separate? cost burden?)
    • monitoring employee community activity
    •  Accounting process of software asset (Tax Office facing)
      •  Looks like it depend on countries (and companies?). At least in Japan, VERY painful. On the contrary, this issue does not exist in Germany.
  • Example organizational design
    •  Can be a reference design?
  • Example strategy?
  • ...
