Characterization matrix

This is a visual summary of the metrics and variables we have used in this first iteration of this study. Initially we considered more but we filtered some of them to make this study easier to digest. We use the concept of characterization matrix as part of a technique that helps organizations, departments, teams and project to focus on describing the system and its environment. Most importantly, it helps them to focus on a small subset of metrics.

Not all of the variables or metrics fall into the simple linear function category. Delivery process performance metrics or some review process metrics, like REI, are obvious examples. However, we have added them to this same matrix for simplicity.

In summary, the goal here is to provide you an idea on how to discuss and organise the metrics to consider in this first stage of the BI journey, descriptive analytics.
